The Journey of a Sermon
2m read
For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. – 1 Corinthians 5:7
When the first Passover was instituted in Egypt, the world looked like it was falling apart. Nine plagues had fallen on Egypt where nature had been turned on its head, cataclysmic phenomenon had ravaged the land, and the entire economy of the most powerful nation on earth was laid in the dust. In this tumultuous time, Israel’s gaze was directed to the innocent Passover lamb.
It was their only way of deliverance.
During this week of Passover in 2023, while our world appears to also be coming apart at the seams, may we also fix our gaze on the only way of deliverance—Christ, the true Passover lamb.
It would be well for us to spend a thoughtful hour each day in contemplation of the life of Christ. We should take it point by point, and let the imagination grasp each scene, especially the closing ones. As we thus dwell upon His great sacrifice for us, our confidence in Him will be more constant, our love will be quickened, and we shall be more deeply imbued with His spirit. – The Desire of Ages, 83.4
To aid in this process of daily contemplation on the closing scenes of Christ’s life, we’d like to invite you to join us for a one-week, daily email reading through 8 chapters of The Desire of Ages. We will begin in Gethsemane and conclude at the empty tomb on the Resurrection morning.
Once you sign up, an email will be delivered to you each day with some reflection questions and an audio reading of one chapter of The Desire of Ages as narrated by Nancy Hamilton. Many of our listeners have told us this dynamic reading of the book is one of the best they have ever heard. There’s no better way to reflect on what Christ has done for us.
